The version on my shelf has a 1947 copyright, but Wikipedia says 1949
The impact of the story is that 80 years ago, someone wrote about a global pandemic and its eventual impact on people. Ish represents the reader, someone who didn’t have to watch people die, watch the news, feel despair and defeat.
It ties in very much with the poetry of Ozymandias
Those he meets represent the ways in which people might cope with these enormous losses. The fragility of man and the boldness of humanity in its successes.

I can’t wait to see the remaining episodes and I’m rereading the novel once again. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
