Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline
Narrative
It follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a TV documentary journalist whose work is built on exposing the wrongdoings of long-respected institutions. In multiple episodes, Jonathan uses the same lens throughout the series, a medium-length telephoto. Such a lens wouldn’t be able to focus on close-up subjects like selfies with Sasha or in the bedroom with Catherine… Damn!
At its core, it’s a story of revenge
I had no idea what kind of experience I was in for when I started watching this AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. "Disclaimer" is based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight and was written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Blanchett stars as Catherine, a journalist whose secrets from her past resurface in a disturbing way, forcing her to confront that past that has wreaked havoc on her entire life.
Blanchett, as always, is fantastic here, and Klein also gives a solid performance
This was a masterfully told story that took us on a fascinating journey of discovery as the audience was shown (sometimes in vivid detail) the "events" from Catherine’s past. It was surprising to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it justice. Despite a few/a few minor gripes, I highly recommend this series if you like character dramas with a little extra tension/intrigue.

Note: There are some pretty graphic depictions of sex/intimacy shown in various episodes. This is not action-packed, and it took me about half an episode (approximately 30 minutes) before I finally got “hooked” on the story. But boy am I glad I stayed.
