A retired CIA agent is hunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares, when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades.. Production was stopped in March 2020 due to governmental restrictions. During that time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed then treated for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. After he recovered, the series went back into production. Bridges referred to the return as going back after a "long weekend" on a podcast in July 2022.. Featured in The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). Some really good things: acting, cinematography, premise, atmosphere, etc. The problem is when it comes to a spy thriller, you need cleverness, but The Old Man has too many plot holes. When super spies behave as if untrained, you no longer have a spy thriller. This is an action flick, at best.
