While there are some hindsighted foreshadowings, most of them are entirely plausible
Some things are explicit that actually might have been unspoken, notably Cohn’s guidance to Tr*mp: he actually gives numbered rules: attack, attack, attack; always claim victory, and so on. There aren’t two total monsters on display, both have a human side, especially in his relationship with his older brother Freddie. Jeremy Strong has Cohn spellbound
His hooded, dead eyes in particular are Cohn’s, but the scar on his nose, from a botched childhood surgery forced on him by his mother, is missing. I couldn’t fault the period details. Mary Anne Tr*mp’s Scottish accent sounded more Central European.
I recommend anyone on the fence check it out before making the election
As a key to what made Trump the man he is today, this film is excellent, even though it neglects how his childhood shaped him into the person Cohn knew he was. Check out our list of exciting new films from this year’s film festivals, including Venice, TIFF, the New York Film Festival, and more.
